IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Over the past five years, Universiti Brunei Darussalam has been on an exciting progressive journey of change, from what is fundamentally a teaching university to a first class international university of excellence in teaching and research. In research, UBD is fortunate to have the strong support of His Majesty’s government in providing funds and infrastructural support to advance research. This entails substantial increase in research funding and the development of infrastructural support as well as ample dedicated leave time for research and conferences.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam invites applications for an academic post in the Faculty of Science with particular expertise in Hydrogeology-Environmental Geology. Preference will be given to applicants with a PhD in Geology or related disciplines with a strong research and publication track record. 

Applicants should have competent knowledge about groundwater modelling, exploration, well hydraulics, well testing and design, water chemistry/contamination of groundwater, environmental impacts. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and will take responsibility for classroom, field and laboratory education in this area at undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful applicant is expected to teach primarily Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology, in the undergraduate Curriculum and will contribute in other 1st and 2nd year modules. The applicant will also supervise graduate research students in the MSc and PhD degree programmes, and will develop and extend research in Geology. The successful applicant is also expected to establish cross-disciplinary research collaboration within the Faculty of Science and with other faculties at UBD.
