IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

PhD in River Hydraulics at Liverpool, UK
The NERC Doctoral Training Programme in Understanding the Earth, Atmosphere and Ocean has a PhD studentship available in the area of river hydraulics:
The studentship starts in October 2016 and provides funding for 3 and a half years.
Deadline for Applications is noon on 4th February 2016.

Applicants must have, or be about to obtain, a first class or upper second degree. If you have a lower second degree, but have also obtained a masters qualification, you are also eligible. The studentship is funded by NERC and is available to UK nationals and other EU nationals that have resided in the UK for three years prior to commencing the studentship. If you meet this criteria, funding will be provided for tuition fees and stipend.  Students from EU countries who do not meet the residency requirements may still be eligible for a fees-only award. Overseas students may be able to join the programme but will need to have arranged funding from other sources.
