IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Assistant or Associate Professor, University of Hawaii at Manoa, US

The Department of Ocean and Resources Engineering of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position, at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Ocean and Resources Engineering is a graduate department offering MS and PhD degrees with strong commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate students, conducting extramurally funded research, and publishing scholarly materials. The ABET-accredited academic program includes coastal engineering, offshore engineering, and ocean resources engineering. Additional information can be found at:http://www.ore.hawaii.edu/.

The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, develop and conduct extramurally funded research projects, publish in research in peer reviewed journals and in other forms as appropriate, and participate in departmental, university and professional activities.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Ocean Engineering or a closely related discipline received no later than June 31, 2016. Other requirements include demonstrated ability as a teacher and student mentor, demonstrated capacity for high-quality research, and excellent communication skills. At the associate professor level, applicants must also have four years of experience at the rank of assistant professor or equivalent and a research record commensurate with the rank. Established extramurally funded projects and practical and/or professional experience with ocean structures, marine systems, or related topics is highly desirable.
