IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Research Associate, University of East Anglia, UK

GIS Research Associate required to support research in UK and Uzbekistan

A GIS and data analyst is sought for appointment as a Research Associate conducting desk-based work in support of a project team researching sustainable management of Houbara. The appointed postholder’s duties will include: downloading, organising, storing and interpreting bird tracking data to communicate with the field-team in Uzbekistan; maintaining databases; and providing GIS support to the team in the UK including downloading remote sensing data, processing and preparing data into desired formats, providing summary analysis; storing and curating data. Due to the nature of the project, the post requires flexibility in working days and hours, including a willingness to undertake some work at weekends.

You must have a honours B.Sc. degree or Masters degree in ecology (or equivalent qualification) and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.

This fixed-term, full-time post is available from 22 February 2016 to 12 June 2016.
