THE YORK COLLEGE OF PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE INVITESAPPLICATIONS for a new position in Civil Engineering beginning in Fall 2016. We seek a dynamic individual to help start and establish a new civil engineering major that will complement existing majors in computer science and computer, electrical and mechanical engineering. The selected candidate will serve as the Coordinator of the Civil Engineering Program and will be responsible for leading the development of the new major, managing the program and serving as a liaison with regional industry. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and have a record of successful undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years of academic experience, a Professional Engineering license and/or industry experience and experience with the ABET accreditation process. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach across a broad range of civil engineering courses. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the potential for: outstanding teaching/advising, ongoing college service, and professional development; developing undergraduate teaching laboratories; and working with industry and undergraduate students in applied research.
The engineering programs at York College are characterized by small class sizes, a hands-on approach, and extensive student/faculty interactions. All engineering students participate in three semesters of full-time cooperative education, gaining valuable professional experience.
