Assistant Professor, Princeton University, US

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the assistant professor level in the Mechanics, Materials and Structures (MMS) program of the Department (http://www.princeton.edu/cee/graduate/programs/mms/), with a preferred start date of September 1, 2016.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in an appropriate field and a proven record of innovation and creativity in conducting quantitative research addressing important and emerging topics in civil and environmental engineering. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, computational approaches applied to resilient urban infrastructure, engineering and the arts, and mechanics.

It is expected that the successful candidate will make substantial contributions to the diverse, interdisciplinary research and teaching mission of the CEE Department, which has strong undergraduate and graduate programs in both Structural Engineering and Environmental Engineering, as well as a strong undergraduate program in Architecture and Engineering. Applicants should have interest in, and competence for, teaching broad undergraduate courses as well as advanced graduate courses in Civil Engineering. Candidates must have the ability and motivation to develop a vigorous independent research program, and to participate in collaborative efforts with other faculty members.

Review of applications will begin December 15, 2015 and continue until the position is filled.
