This exciting project involves research and development of a concept design for an electrically driven propulsive leg for marine outboard motors. It will be required to fully research old and new designs and features and create a design that can be efficiently manufactured and produce the required performance using additive manufacturing techniques.
We are seeking a Research Assistant in Manufacturing and Design or Mechanical Engineering.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the delivery of the collaborative project between Southampton Solent University and Altertek Ltd, which specialises in manufacturing, design and electronic product development.
You should be educated to degree level or equivalent and have both practical and theoretical knowledge and preferably some experience in design engineering. Evidence of good communication, organisational and time management skills is required. The ability to be self-motivated and work as part of a team is also essential. Ideally the candidate should have some experience of the marine environment and boats and craft in particular.
