Assistant/Associate Professor - Construction Engineering Cal Poly State University, US
CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, CA. The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the area of CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING with specialization in civil infrastructure, structural and/or geotechnical engineering, and/or sustainable construction. Applicants are required to have a PhD in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or closely related field. Practical experience and a PE are highly desirable. The successful candidate will have specializations in one or more of the following areas: earthwork/heavy civil construction practices; Best Management Practices (BMPs) and sustainable/LEED construction; Infrastructure lifecycle cost analysis; Building Information Modeling (BIM) and/or 4D modeling; building infrastructure systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural, energy/power, and fire detection); construction/engineering integration; innovative construction materials/methodologies; and/or civil infrastructure health monitoring or rehabilitation. We expect the successful candidate to assume a lead role in creating a Construction Engineering curricular track option within our Civil and Environmental Engineering Curriculum in collaboration with the Construction Management Department. The position is available starting AY 2016-2017.
Responsibilities include: (a) teaching and developing undergraduate/graduate courses and laboratories related to Construction Engineering; (b) teaching support courses in the areas of either (or both) Structural/Geotechnical Engineering, depending on qualifications; © supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research; (d) developing and maintaining externally funded research programs; (e) collaborating with other faculty on research and professional development interests.
The Department has two separate B.S. degree programs with approximately 600 undergraduate students in the Civil Engineering Program and 200 in the Environmental Engineering Program. Both programs are ABET accredited. The Department also offers an M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with approximately 60 active graduate students.
