IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences, University of Southampton, UK
With the appointment of Professor Sir Christopher Snowden as the new Vice-Chancellor, this is an exciting time to join the University and to play a key leadership role as Dean of Natural and Environmental Sciences and as a member of the executive team.
Ranked in the top one per cent of universities globally and among the UK’s top 20 for research, the University of Southampton has an international reputation for its research, teaching and enterprise activities.
Natural and Environmental Sciences is a dynamic multidisciplinary faculty encompassing Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Ocean and Earth Sciences. It is committed to leveraging the synergies of the academic units to meet global challenges and deliver exceptional teaching.
As a member of the University’s executive team, the next Dean will play a key role in the strategic leadership of the University as well shaping the strategic direction of the Faculty. They will be enterprising, creative and innovative to enable the University to achieve its ambition. As a visionary leader they will have experience of providing strategic direction and demonstrate an understanding of how to maximise potential in order to anticipate and meet the challenges of a rapidly changing external environment. They will be able to build, engage and support a high performing management team and demonstrate the ability to build and develop strong and productive networks across sectors and represent the University nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will also have an outstanding record of academic achievement with international standing.
