Professor in Marine Hydrodynamics, Technical University of Denmark
DTU Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Professor in Marine Hydrodynamics.
DTU Mechanical Engineering is contributing to research, innovation and education within the following scientific areas: Structural and solid mechanics, fluid and hydrodynamics, applied thermodynamics, manufacturing technology, engineering design and product development, materials- and surface engineering. The staff consists of approximately 300 persons including a faculty of 55. The professor will be affiliated to the Maritime group in the Section for Fluid Mechanics, Coastal and Maritime Engineering (FVM) which is one out of six sections in the department employing 38 persons including presently a faculty of 11. The section runs a fluid mechanics laboratory and a large costal engineering laboratory.
Responsibilities and tasks
The opening of the new position as professor in Marine Hydrodynamics is a result of strategic considerations leading to an increased focus on research and education in maritime engineering. DTU Mechanical Engineering therefore seeks a professor with expertise in the following areas:
numerical methods for solving wave-structure interaction problems in the marine environment
risk-based design procedures for strength and safety of marine structures
advanced ship operation (Performance monitoring, Maintenance, Route optimization)
