IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Maritime Programs, Higher Colleges of Technology, United Arab Emirates
An exciting opportunity exists for the Dean of Maritime Programs at the Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE. The incumbent will be leading this important new initiative for the country.
Founded in 1988, HCT has grown to be the largest of the higher educational institutions in the UAE, gaining a well-respected reputation for innovative learning. More than 24,000 students attend 17 modern campuses across the country.
This position is responsible for the leadership and further development of the new industry related maritime programs already initiated, and for identifying and developing new programs as appropriate. He/she will liaise directly with the maritime industry in the UAE, to ensure that all the programs are industry relevant and serve the needs of the country. Working with the Executive Dean of the Division of Engineering Technology and Science, other Executive Deans, as appropriate, Program Chairs, and Faculty in related disciplines, the Dean will develop curricula, promote best practices, monitor academic standards, evaluate student performance, facilitate faculty development and develop relationships throughout the system and the community with the aim of continuous improvement to meet international accreditation standards.
The Dean is also responsible for recruitment of new staff, and procurement of equipment, for the programs.
