The Department of Physical Geography, Faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University,The Netherlands seeks an Assistant Professor in Dynamics of Coastal Barrier Systems, who will strengthen our research and teaching in the (bio) morphodynamics of coastal barrier systems and its subsystems (barrier island, back barrier basin, intertidal area and tidal inlet). This dynamics results from flow, sand and mud transport, biological interactions and human interference. We are particularly interested in candidates who will develop a rigorous research programme in:
(1) bio-physical interactions in any of these subsystems; or,
(2) mud dynamics in the entire coastal barrier system.
However, we are open to discussing other research programmes. As the new Assistant Professor you will also contribute to our (under-) graduate teaching programme in earth sciences, mainly in the field of geomorphology and coastal processes. You are expected to take full responsibility for one or two courses and to contribute to others, including our MSc excursion. The teaching load is about 40%. You will supervise bachelor?s and master?s thesis projects, co-supervise PhD candidates and acquire funding for new projects. Enquiries of an academic nature should be directed to Prof. Dr. Gerben Ruessink, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
