The Griffith School of Engineering seeks to expand its Civil Engineering offerings by establishing a Nathan campus-based program to complement the one currently offered at the Gold Coast campus.

The School seeks a suitably qualified Academic leader, available to start in 2016, to provide strategic leadership in research, and learning and teaching in the field of Civil Engineering. The Head of Discipline will be required to identify and make ready the resources required to allow inception of the Civil Engineering Program at Nathan commencing Semester 1, 2017. The appointee will refine the curriculum and assist the Head of School in developing an experiential learning pedagogy which can be rolled out across all programs of study within the Griffith School of Engineering. Ongoing monitoring of the performance of the discipline's programs and courses to ensure the continual improvement of teaching quality, will also be required.

The Head of Discipline will provide highly developed research leadership including supervision, training, education, mentoring and assistance to research staff and research students in order to achieve high quality research publications, obtain competitive grant funding, work closely with industry partners and contribute to organisational objectives.

The appointee will have an internationally competitive research track record in Civil Engineering, including evidence of producing high quality publications and obtaining competitive grant funding. Extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, course development and coordination will be required.
