IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Water Resources Engineers, The Pennsylvania State University
The Pennsylvania State University’s College of Engineering and College of Agricultural Sciences announces two positions in water resources engineering, jointly appointed between Civil and Environmental Engineering and Agricultural and Biological Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for collaborative research in this rapidly growing area. Penn State University has a strong commitment to growth in the general area of water. The successful candidates will join more than 50 faculty members across the campus, conducting research in a wide range of water-related topics and will have opportunities to collaborate and interact with these faculty through the Penn State Institutes for Energy and the Environment, the new Water Institute, the Rock Ethics Institute and the Sustainability Institute, among others. The stormwater positions support strategic thrust areas within the Colleges of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences.
Position 1: All ranks considered, Tenure-track, Civil and Environmental Engineering is the home department
Research thrusts relevant to this position include, but are not limited, to prediction of water quantity and quality impacts of urban-suburban stormwater flooding, high resolution, modeling of local effects of current and projected stormwater practices, testbed experimentation to evaluate benefits of a range of management techniques with multiple constraints, climate-landuse-landcover and infrastructure modeling of the impact and efficiency of green infrastructure, evapotransporation in urban settings, remote-sensing and simulation of storm water budgets and flood prediction and impacts of storm water management on civil infrastructure, urban channel erosion, wetland inundation duration and riparian biogeochemistry. The selected candidate will be expected to engage in instruction at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the area of water resources engineering and enhance the Department’s existing curriculum. The applicant shall hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Position 2: Assistant Professor, Tenure-track, Agricultural and Biological Engineering is the home department
Research focus on resilient approaches to stormwater management, with particular interest in designing, modeling and assessing decentralized stormwater infrastructure (e.g., Low Impact Development Best Management Practices: LID BMPs). Teaching responsibilities will be in the area of water resource engineering and the faculty member will provide instruction for two undergraduate courses and will develop a graduate course in the water resource engineering area, jointly offered by ABE and CEE. Undergraduate and graduate student advising is expected. Applicant shall hold a Ph.D. in biological, agricultural, civil or environmental engineering or a related engineering field, with a solid core of fundamental engineering coursework. Professional Engineer (PE) registration or pursuit thereof will be encouraged.
