IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Structural Engineering and Materials, South Africa

The Department of Civil Engineering has an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching in all major fields of civil engineering, including structural engineering, construction materials, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics, water quality engineering, urban water management and transport studies. The Structures and Materials Group is one of the major clusters of teaching and research activities in the Department. It offers undergraduate courses covering: mechanics of materials and structures; structural analysis; construction materials; structural design in concrete, steel and timber. The group also offers various postgraduate programmes.

Applications are invited for a permanent full-time post in the area of Structural Engineering and Materials. The incumbent will have the opportunity to join one or more of several established research groups in the Department, and will actively contribute to the teaching and research activities of the Department, including the supervision of postgraduate students. In addition to courses in structural engineering and materials, the successful candidate may also be required to teach other civil engineering courses in the undergraduate curriculum.
