The post holder will be working on the QUOTIENT (Quantification, Optimisation, and Environmental Impacts of Marine Renewable Energy) project. This is a collaborative project between established research groups in Bangor University, Swansea University and Cardiff University which aims to examine how wave and tidal energy resources interact with one another, to address the nature of marine renewable energy resources in the context of sea-level rise and changing weather patterns, and to improve optimisation of marine energy as a reliable source of power. Funding to support this research is provided by Welsh Government and HEFCW through the Sêr Cymru National Research Network for Low Carbon Energy and the Environment.
The successful candidate will be required to use and develop computational tools to model the performance of tidal stream turbines, with particular emphasis on turbine arrays. This work will require close collaboration with research partners at Bangor University and Cardiff University. The research officer will also be required to write and publish ISI peer-reviewed journal papers, to contribute to grant applications, and to deliver STEM outreach activities.
