IMDC is looking for a junior coastal engineer to join the Coastal Zone Management team. As a member of this team you will get the opportunity to work on a wide range of different coastal projects, including coastal flooding, coastline erosion and dune migration, coastal planning and development, design of coastal protection, beach and dune replenishment and coastal impact assessments. You will have the opportunity to further develop skills in data analysis, numerical modelling of hydrodynamics and waves (e.g. SWAN), sediment transport and morphology, specific near shore processes (swash zone) (e.g. XBeach, Swash), flooding, and statistical analysis.
We are looking for a dynamic person, who’s able to work as part of a project team, but can also work independently and is not afraid of taking initiative.
-You have a university degree in coastal or civil engineering.
-You will be working mainly in our office in Antwerp, but are also prepared to go abroad for some shorter and/or longer term project missions.
-You are fluent in English and French (both in writing and verbally). Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
-You are a team-player and have good communicative skills.
-Some experience with numerical modelling is an advantage, but not required.
