Statistician, HR Wallingford, UK

HR Wallingford has internationally recognised expertise in the field of flood risk assessment. We have considerable experience of hazard and risk modelling and mapping – from national scale assessments using broad-scale tools, to regional and local flood risk assessments. Our consultancy studies are backed by leading edge software and our active involvement in climate change and flood risk research.

As a result of our continued success in the area of environmental statistics and risk analysis, we wish to appoint a statistician to work with our floods specialists as part of the risk team, as well as providing statistical and analytical expertise across the whole company. You will work with our existing Senior Statistician who has developed this topic area over the past five years.

The position will involve undertaking statistical analysis relating to a wide range of environmental data and hydraulic engineering related challenges. The ideal candidate will have a firm background in mathematics with specialist skills in statistical analysis at an MSc level or higher. Experience in the use of the “R” software system is desirable. Some relevant work experience would be useful but not essential. Demonstration of organisational and communication qualities, flexibility and team-working are other important attributes for the post. It is essential that you can work well both individually and as part of a team.
