IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Civil/Environmental Engineering (water engineering), Australia

The School of Civil Engineering is one of the largest schools in Australia with 31 full-time academic staff members who are widely published internationally and have extensive research backgrounds ranging from structures, fluids, coastal, environmental, geotechnical, transport and fire. Research and teaching in water engineering is supported by comprehensive laboratory facilities. The School aims to further build academic strength in water engineering with new position as below.

The role

The successful appointee will engage, as a lecturer or senior lecturer, in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, postgraduate supervision, and further development of the School's Civil Engineering program, as well as performing research, administrative and other activities associated with the School.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent discipline with specialisation in water engineering and with research interests, for example, in cohesive sediment transport, reservoir hydrodynamics and limnology, fluid-structure interactions and green water oceanography. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in health behaviour, good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.


This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic level B or C. The remuneration package will be in the range $84,323 - $100,134 (Level B) and $103,296 - $119,106 (level C) p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%
