IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a contingent position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The earliest anticipated start date is January 1, 2015. The appointment will be for a five-year term. 

The successful candidate: 1) must hold an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in groundwater engineering or a related area; 2) must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba; 3) will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses; 4) will be expected to establish an externally funded and sustainable research program; and 5) must possess excellent communication and leadership skills. 

We are particularly interested in candidates who complement existing expertise in the department and who have a demonstrated record of research and publications in one or more of the following areas: modeling of groundwater hydrologic and hydrogeologic processes, contaminant transport in groundwater, low temperature geothermal energy, aquifer storage, recharge, and remediation, subsurface fluid injection, and impact of climate change on the environment.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research and teaching interests, two samples of publications, and names of three references.
