IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Experienced Researcher, Switzerland

ER - Experienced Researcher 
Member of the Water and Environment department, you will work on SEDITRANS project funded by the Research Executive Agency of the European Union. 
> Engineering applications on fluvial projects, focusing on river morphology and reservoir sedimentation 
> Participation in Work Packages 2, 3 and 6, together with renowned academic institutions 
> Carry out benchmark studies for new software on practical applications 
> Contribute to engineering manuals and experimental modelling planning, on turbidity currents 
> Represent STUCKY in the Industrial Advisory Panel 
> Supervise early-stage researchers during their short-stay visits to STUCKY 
> Publish main results in related discipline in international peer-reviews journals and/or conferences 
> Possibility to contribute to other ongoing projects in related fields, from concept to implementation 
> PhD in engineering, physics or in related discipline or more than 5 years experience in research 
> Master degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Mechanics or related fields) 
> Competences in river hydraulics, fluid mechanics and turbulence, as well as in programming are 
> Fluent in written and spoken English (min. B2 level), good knowledge of French will be an asset 
Other information and requirements 
> 20 months contract, starting at convenience, preferably from October 2014. 
> Integrated in the ITN Marie Curie program, the program fosters mobility and transfer of knowledge 
between academia and practice. 
> Eligible applicants cannot have spent more than 12 months in Switzerland in the last 3 years. 
> SEDITRANS stands for “Sediment transport in fluvial, estuarine and coastal environment”. It is funded 
under the Marie Curie FP7-PEOPLE-2013-ITN program of the European Union and aims at providing 
training-through-research to Experienced Researchers (ERs) holders of a recent PhD degree.
