IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Professor and Dean of the International Academy of the Marine Economy and Technology (IAMET), Provost of University of Nottingham Ningbo, China
This is a unique opportunity to apply for an exciting, pioneering role with the International Academy of Marine Economy and Technology (IAMET) working with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) which was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. This award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 6,000 in just 9 years.
The successful candidate will provide overall leadership for the major new flagship £25m initiative that the University of Nottingham is establishing, with the support and commitment of the Ningbo Municipal Government, to establish IAMET as a world-leading research and knowledge exchange hub that aligns with China’s national strategy for significant investment in the marine economy. The Dean will establish and lead IAMET to deliver challenging knowledge exchange and research objectives, drawing on academic strengths and capabilities across the worldwide University of Nottingham, in partnership with industry stakeholders and other academic collaborators, across the four themes of Port services, trade and logistics; Marine advanced and new materials; Marine biological and natural products; Marine environmental management. The Dean will provide overall leadership and academic leadership of one of the themes and bring significant experience and an international track record of academic and knowledge exchange achievements.
The successful candidate will have leadership experience in a multidisciplinary and international research or knowledge exchange environment with experience of; the establishment of spinout companies, transfer of technologies, extensive industry engagement, policy or regulatory input. Extensive experience in a research leadership role, together with excellent research skills and an established track record of high quality research outputs are essential, along with a proven ability to attract funding for major research projects.
