IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Proposals are particularly welcome in one of the following topics, but the research project may also cover any other topic in the fields of hydrology, fluvial hydraulics or hydraulic engineering:
sediment transport, morphodynamic modelling and reservoir sedimentation,
weirs, spillways and dissipation structures,
continuous rainfall-runoff modelling and high resolution flood risk analysis,
adaptation to the hydrological impacts of climate change

The fellows will be offered a salary (approx. € 2,100 net per month), a research-travel-mobility allowance as well as soft skills training to develop their skills and independence as research leaders.

The University of Liege will provide a personalised relocation service for each fellow as well as to his/ her family. According to The Scientist (2009), the University of Liege was ranked 9th best place in the world to do a post-doc.
