IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Postdoc in coastal oceanography, LETG Geomer, Plouzane, France
The postdoc aims at understanding the links between storm surges, wave runup, extreme water levels and the observed morphological changes.
The postdoc candidate will be expected to run the BOSZ model (Boussinesq model for Ocean and Surf Zone) for application on different beaches of the Iroise Sea (Brittany,  rance). A recent lidar bathymetry dataset (Litto3D) will be available to build high resolution simulations ( 5 to 10 meters horizontal resolution) on the beaches of interest.

The applicants must have a PhD in Physical Oceanography or in a close field. Proficiency in numerical modeling is required and an experience with Boussinesq models would be decisive.
The position is for 2 years, full time and the successfull candidate is expected to start in October 2013. The application shall include a CV with publication list, proof of doctoral degree and contact information for two reference persons.
