IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Postdoc position in hydraulics at TU Wien, Research Center of Hydraulic Engineering, Austria
Applications are invited for a six-year Postdoc position at the Research Center of Hydraulic Engineering (kw.tuwien.ac.at), Faculty of Civil Engineering, TU Wien (Austria, Vienna) in the group of Professor Koen Blanckaert. The minimum gross salary is 3711.10 Euro (14x / year) for a 40h/week employment. The earliest possible starting date is October 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will contribute to research, teaching and applied hydraulic engineering projects. Besides developing his/her own research, the candidate will assist Professor Blanckaert in the supervision of PhD, MSc and Undergraduate research projects. The candidate will focus on experimental research in the laboratory, making use of state-of-the-art measuring technology. The candidate’s teaching activities will mainly be related to the course “hydraulic engineering and hydraulic structures” and will include lecturing, the supervision of student projects and the organization of exams.

The candidate will hold a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Physics, Environmental Engineering, Physical Geography, Physics, or related fields. He/she will have a demonstrated track record in high-level publications and in the acquisition of external funding. He/she will be an expert in experimental techniques, such as acoustic and optical velocimetry. Proficiency in German is an important asset.

The selection procedure consists of two rounds. Complete applications for the first round will include a motivation letter, a CV, a one-page research proposal, two reference letters, and a full transcript of Bachelor and Master studies.
