|Principal Marine Projects Engineer
Dubai Municipality (DM) is currently looking for senior level marine projects engineer with extensive contracts management, site supervision / coordination experience for marine projects. This is an opportunity to take the lead role on interesting and important marine civil infrastructure projects in the DM’s Coastal Zone & Waterways Management Section (CWMS).
CWMS monitors and controls development of marine / coastal projects; one kilometer inland and eighteen kilometers offshore of the Dubai Coastline. As a regulatory authority, Dubai Municipality issues development approvals prior to start of any marine/coastal construction.
CWMS further undertakes direct execution of marine works related to maintenance of Dubai Beaches under the control of the Government of Dubai. CWMS also executes marine / coastal projects for other agencies and clients under Government of Dubai.
·Preparation of BOQs, cost estimates, and tender documents; and short-listing of Contractors/Consultants for the works to be directly executed by CWMS;
·Coordinating with Contractors and Consultants in the execution of the ongoing projects including Contractors/Consultants of other agencies working at the Site;
·Prepare and review all Correspondences to Consultants / Contractors and attend all Site Coordination and Progress Review Meetings on behalf of DM;
·Coordinating with other government agencies and relevant stakeholders in execution of the projects;
·Coordinating with DM’s Contracts & Purchasing Department for all internal projects in resolution of contractual issues and release of Interim/Final payments, etc.;
·Reviewing technical, contractual and commercial proposals from the Contractors and recommendations from the Consultants and preparing draft responses;
·Collection and Compilation of new / latest technologies and products; and accordingly recommend to be implemented in CWMS projects; and
·Developing cost effective and practical engineering design and construction solutions;
Qualifications and Experience:
·Degree (Masters Degree preferred) from an accredited university in Civil Engineering;
·Well organized, with a sound knowledge of latest construction technologies and equipment for marine works;
·Minimum 10 years technical and management experience in large scale infrastructure and near shore ports & harbors and marine developments viz., breakwaters, Quay
Walls, Marinas, Beach Nourishment, etc.;
·Good understanding of FIDIC Conditions of Contract. Familiar with DM General Conditions of Contract preferred.
·Cognizant of all the best practices of construction and relevant international codes of practice for marine or coastal projects; and
·Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Computer Software Skills
Extensive hands on experience in the use of following software's:
·AutoCAD (Drawing & Graphical Tool); and
·MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project etc.)
In addition to technical expertise and competencies, the candidates are expected to be enthusiastic, resourceful, organized, and detail oriented. Shall demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues. Excellent computer and technical writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment are essential.
