IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Fluids Research Laboratory Manager, University of Liverpool, UK
You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will work on a post funded by the ESPRC. The post supports the award of a Fellowship to Professor Rob Poole and you will manage the day-to-day running of the laboratory including training others (including both undergraduate and postgraduate students) in various experimental techniques and constructing small-scale experiments. You should have a degree in a relevant area (e.g. Engineering or Physics) with relevant experience of mixing and characterising complex fluids. A PhD in Engineering or Physics would be an advantage. Experience of rheological measurement techniques and familiarity with designing and commissioning fluid mechanics experiments and a good knowledge of the fundamentals of fluid mechanics, rheology and heat transfer is essential to the role. Knowledge of laser techniques for fluid flow measurements e.g. laser Doppler velocimetry or particle image velocimetry would be an advantage.
