IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

MSc and PhD positions in hydrologic analysis, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada
Applications are invited for two graduate student positions at the masters and PhD levels in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. The successful applicant will develop frameworks for the probabilistic assessment of nonstationary hydroclimatic extremes, including floods and droughts, at the regional and global scales. The project requires processing and analysis of large datasets including ground-based and satellite observations as well as global and regional climate model simulations, setting up hydrologic models with different complexities, and developing/improving state-of-the-art statistical techniques. Financial support including a monthly stipend, tuition and travel to scientific conferences will be provided. The qualified student should have a degree in engineering, hydrologic science or a related field with a background in hydrology and statistics. Knowledge and experience with ARC-GIS and computer programming (such as MATLAB, R and Python) is an asset. The ideal start date is September of 2017. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, CV, proof of English Language Proficiency (see http://www.eng.uwo.ca/civil/graduate/future_students/english_language_proficiency.html) and unofficial transcripts by May 30 to Mohammad Reza Najafi: mnajafi7@uwo.ca
