Project Director (Middle East), HR Wallingford, United Arab Emirates

HR Wallingford is a global civil engineering hydraulic consultancy business with projects, offices and representatives worldwide. We are looking to grow and deliver greater content delivery of our projects in the Middle East region, with principal focus on the GCC countries. We are seeking a dynamic individual to establish, grow and lead a team in the delivery of our maritime projects locally.

The Role

  • Manage or direct the project delivery on time and within budget in the region liaising with clients and working closely with other engineering and modelling specialists based in the UK;
  • Lead the engineering team in the region and liaise with the Engineering Group Manager in the UK;
  • Undertake design work;
  • Ensure quality control maintaining HR Wallingford’s excellent reputation;
  • Build and maintain relationships with Clients and local partners in the region working closely with our business development managers based;
  • Support the identification and tracking of project opportunities working closely with our business development managers based in the region and our UK office;
  • Lead the preparation and submission of proposals.

We are seeking a Chartered Engineer with at least 10 years’ experience and a proven track record in the successful winning and delivery of coastal or maritime projects. You will have extensive experience of working in either a consultancy or an engineering organisation covering all aspects of engineering studies including physical and numerical modelling of hydraulic processes, navigation and mooring, and dredging. You will have an extensive understanding of the region in terms of projects and client typical requirements/expectations. Ideally you will have worked in the region for the last 5 years and be able to demonstrate a client portfolio. You must be able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent leadership skills.

It is envisaged that the position will based in our Abu Dhabi office and will travel within the region on a regular basis.
