The expected starting date is January 1, 2017. ABD candidates will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. in Civil/Environmental Engineering or closely related field. Appropriate candidates must have good communication skills, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a record of scholarship, and the ability to initiate and maintain a funded research program in their area of specialization.

The Department is housed in Shelby Hall, a new 155,000 sq.ft., state-of-the-art Engineering and Computing Sciences building that opened in 2012. The department offers the BSCE and MSCE degrees and cooperates with the interdisciplinary M.S. in Environmental Toxicology program. The BSCE program is fully ABET accredited and the College of Engineering offers a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) program in Systems Engineering. Mobile is the center of a growing, two-county, metropolitan area (~600,000 residents) with a diverse economy and a challenging environment for all aspects of civil engineering.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interest, and a list of three references (including their affiliation, postal address, phone number, and email address) via Academic Jobs Online (http://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/7395).
