IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

EPSRC Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only), Cardiff University, UK
Immediate opportunity for a PhD candidate interested in hydrology and in particular Natural Flood Management.  The PhD will span 4 years; the first year will consist of taught modules in water science, engineering and informatics. During this time the structure of the research project will be developed with the supervisors, Dr Michaela Bray and Prof. Thorsten Stoesser.  The research will start in year 2 at Cardiff University and will be completed in year 4.
 
The student will participate in an annual summer school, and will spend three months either with one of the many leading companies associated with the project (such as CH2M HILL, Arup, and IBM) or on sabbatical at one of the many leading international universities linked to the project, such as MIT (US), EPFL (Switzerland) and the National University of Singapore.
 
Candidate Requirements: 
Strong degree in water engineering and hydrology and a grasp of computer coding. Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally. Ability to make an immediate start by the end of September 2016.
