IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

NewsFlash Europe is an electronic monthly publication of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research. It is published mid-month and is distributed, free of charge, to anyone interested in water engineering and research in Europe. This publication complements the global edition of NewsFlash, published at the beginning of every month and distributed worldwide to around 27,000 addresses.


  Elena Nucci
  University of Trento, Italy; President of the IAHR Italy Young 
  Professionals Network

  Elena Nucci is currently working as researcher at Department of Civil, 
  Environmental and Engineering (DICAM) at the University of Trento,
  Italy, where she did her PhD, Master and Bachelor in Environmental Engineering.
  She is working on the conceptual and numerical elaborations dealing with 
  the rheology of granular flows. She is leader of the WP Communication and 
  Disseminations of the EraNet co-founded Project (waterworks2014) STEEPSTREAMS 
  2017-2018. She is co-opted member of the Leadership Team 2016 – 2018 of the IAHR
  Europe Regional Division since April 2017. 

  Tiago Fazeres Ferradosa
  University of Porto, Portugal, President of the IAHR Portugal Young 
  Professionals Network
  Tiago Ferradosa is a PhD researcher at UPorto (Portugal), with a 
  master thesis project developed at University College London (UCL-UK). 
  He has been developing is work on offshore foundations, namely in the 
  topics of scour protection, scour analysis, optimisation of design, risk 
  and reliability analysis. His interests are also extended to offshore 
  foundations in complex soils’ configurations and structural design. In 
  2013 he was awarded with Hydralab IV Young Researchers’ Course 
  scholarship and in 2014 granted with a PhD scholarship in the FCT-PhD 
  Program Infrarisk – “Analysis and Mitigation of Risks in
